What Is Frequency Specific Microcurrent?
Microcurrent is electrical current in millionths of an ampere (amp). Micro-amperage current is the same kind of current your body produces on its own within each cell. The current is very small. There is not enough current to stimulate sensory nerves so the current flow cannot be felt.
Why Micro for Healing?
Microcurrent technology has been used for many decades. FSM is being used in some wound healing and bone healing devices. Is all Micro Current Devices the same?
No, early units and units used for wound healing typically use one or two frequencies as the current is delivered to the injured area or body. Indy Myopain Relief Center’s Micro devices use complex programming based on Resonance Theory. There are technical parameters that are controlled: including timing, waveform, polarization and “ramping”. These parameters have been clinically developed to allow for advanced programming and much better clinical outcomes.
What is Resonance Theory?
Frequency is the number of cycles per second of any wave; this is known as Hertz. Resonance theory is the creation of resonance, or coherence, between two energetic waves. Resonance Theory assumes that physical tissue has a “bio-electric/magnetic” signature. (A frequency that the tissue/organ is at when in a healthy state). ALL electrical current also has a frequency.
How is Resonance Used?
If it is possible to heal tissues (with something like microcurrent), then the positive effects could be amplified by “matching” the frequency of the current to the frequency of the tissue injured. Where Do the Frequencies Come From?
Frequencies used by Indy Myopain Relief Center and vendors we utilize are published and accepted by the general community of established practitioners. The bulk of recent contributions to these lists have come from Dr. Charles McWilliams, who published a comprehensive list in Radiotherapy in Electro-acupuncture in1994. Other contributors to the field date back as far as the early 1900s with Dr. Albert Abrams, who published early frequencies in very early medical journals.
Is Resonance only used with Micro-current?
No, resonance is the concept of matching a bio-electric/bio-magnetic property of two entities. Resonance can be created with any modalities that can emit a frequency or waveform. How Does Microcurrent Therapy Work?
Every cell and molecule in your body has it's own unique resonant frequency. A treatment course typically involves several sessions, and benefits accrue over time. Microcurrent therapy is safe, FDA-approved and has no significant adverse effects. However, it is not recommended for patients who have pacemakers or are pregnant.

Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy is great at reducing pain. It reduces pain without harmful side effects. It is not habit-forming. Being pain-free can become a positive addiction, but that is not the type of addiction we had in mind.

What is PEMF used?
PEMF therapy has been used clinically to stimulate bone formation and assist in healing non-union fractures. The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) has approved several devices that transmit low level PEMFs for treatment of non-union fractures. Clinical studies have demonstrated that PEMF therapy may help prevent and treat osteoporosis. The FDA has also approved a PEMF device that has been successful in treatment of refractory depression by a technique called repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS).
At the cellular level, low-level PEMFs have also been shown to positively affect enzymatic processes and stimulate growth factors involved in cellular repair and bone formation.8,9 All membranes within and surrounding every cell separate charge and create transmembrane electrical potentials. PEMFs interact and alter the transmembrane potential by influencing the migration of ions across the membrane. Low-level PEMFs have been shown to exert an anti-inflammatory effect through restoration of plasma membrane calcium ATPase activity.
Multiple published scientific studies have demonstrated that low-level PEMFs produce a statistically significant reduction in pain when treating acute whiplash injuries, chronic musculoskeletal pain, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, epicondylitis, and neuropathic pain. A 2003 study by NASA showed that very low level PEMFs up-regulate genes involved in normal cell growth. NASA has also studied the application of PEMF to reduce muscle atrophy and bone loss associated with space flight.
